02|15 New Cell Phone and Online Games

I finally caved in and decided to give up my two year old cell phone for a new, overkill model. By overkill I mean that it does much more than any cell phone should... It takes pictures, surfs the net, and is bluetooth capable. I can't wait for it to finish charging so that I can activate it and start having some fun!

There's finally some new news in the gaming world. After the frenzy of game releases a few months ago, things have been pretty quiet. Until now. Warner Brothers has announced a release date for The Matrix Online for March 22, 2005. I expect that we'll hear more about this in the next few days because they've also lifted the NDA for beta testers and demo subjects.

Speaking of MMORPGs, I've started playing one called Eve Online recently. It's an interesting mix of different Sci-Fi concepts and economics, giving players a wide range of specialties to pursue. But, I've never been very attached to online games and probably won't buy the game in two days when my trial runs out. Still worth a shot if you are into this type of game.

Yet another MMORPG has raised eyebrows lately; World of Warcraft. After I'm done with Eve, I'll probably pick this one up for a while. I've heard it's a decent game but it's the kind of thing I want to see for myself.

02|12 A poem, a girl, a twist, and less lofty things

Immortal Dawn Blackened world built upon drops of life
Falling endlessly through its void
A singularity of hope piercing the infinite veil
Shadows returning, following its fading glare

I consider myself to be a poet even though I rarely write such things. The drawback of such a combination is that when somebody asks to see my work, I can't find a good example very easily. I think I'm going to start writing a poem with each entry on this blog.

This is among many changes that I've decided upon for this site (although I've been rather slow to implement them). Before I start listing the coming changes, I'd like to take a moment to explain my reasoning. First of all, you may have noticed the relative infrequency of updates compared to the past. If you're unusually observant or you happen to know me personally, you probably already know why there hasn't been an update in months.

So, without anymore stalling, I'll get to the point. My last entry mentioned getting setup with a girl. Well, it went well. Really well. Her name is Jamaica and I very quickly came to love her. I'm not sure why I love her, I can't pick out any one thing that really attracts me to her. I think it's because I love every part of her to such an extreme, it's hard to distinguish one characteristic from another. But why am I trying to justify it? If I remember correctly, my primary audience is a bunch of search bots that wouldn't know love if it bit their programmers in the ass. As far as my secondary audience, the human one, if you've ever been in love you know that there is just no way to explain it other than sheer happiness. If you haven't been in love I can say that I and just about everybody else on the planet highly recommends it. Take a risk and ask him/her/it out.

Ok, I'm done with the sappy part. Maybe. So, now knowing that I'm in love with Jamaica, you should have a clearer idea of why I haven't been updating this blog. I have developed a new set of priorities where blogging just isn't very high on the list. Sorry for any of you die-hard fans out there. Alright, I'll stop kidding myself, nobody actually reads this site... I've got the apache logs to prove it.

Anyway, for those of you that are still on the edge of your seat, here's a rundown of the stuff I'm planning to change. First of all, I'll probably redesign the header in the near future because if you haven't noticed, it looks like shit when you get the window width below 1024. I'll also be changing the format of the blog a bit, making it more technical rather than personal. I understand that nobody wants to read about how crappy my day was. Frankly, I hate reading those too. So from here on out, I will only post about my technical experiences. For example, something along the lines of "Mac mini lust" would be a good topic under the new format but "Meeting up with old friends" is simply uninteresting to anybody that isn't stalking me... There's a creepy thought, somebody screwed up enough in the head to stalk someone as uninteresting as me. Go figure.

I think I'm done writing about writing now. Did I just write about writing about writing? This is giving me a headache. Recursion is for computers, not so much humans.
